“In Poland, we have well-developed private companies with high competencies and infrastructure—experienced manufacturers capable of rapidly modifying or scaling production and advancing technology. This potential should be more strongly utilized,” said Andrzej Bulanowski, Vice President of PGO S.A., during the ongoing European Economic Congress in Katowice.
The current geopolitical situation has significantly increased the relevance of the thematic session on Production, Defense, and Security, which attracted a large audience—so large, in fact, that some attendees could not fit into the panel room. Experts representing both the Polish government and private sector entrepreneurs discussed the challenges the near future holds for Poland's military security.
One key aspect is ammunition production. Andrzej Bulanowski emphasized the importance of the project currently being carried out by PGO S.A. and the Military Institute of Armament Technology, which involves the production of the first Polish 155 mm artillery shell. He also highlighted the critical need for strengthened collaboration between the public and private sectors.
“At PGO S.A., we are fully prepared to execute the most demanding contracts for the defense sector. Moreover, we are making significant investments in our machinery park to expand our capabilities. What we need now are new standards to eliminate barriers hindering the growth of private defense companies. Most importantly, we seek greater predictability in procurement processes, which would undoubtedly facilitate business decisions that increase our production capacity,” summarized Bulanowski.
